Uh, yeah, I'm having a little trouble with the quiz, especially this part: "If you were portrayed in a film or TV movie, it would be by...Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Ehle or Keira Knightley, Gwyneth Paltrow or Kate Beckinsale, Frances O'Connor, Katharine Schlesinger, Amanda Root."
Haha.
Good links otherwise.

Dave, ugh okay, so I should have put a disclaimer on it, lol
Why they didn't include a similar quiz for the guys I'll never know. Thanks for leaving your comment! Janice Re: Re: Re: Simply Fabulous Links

Well, I did finish the quiz. Apparently I'm an Elinor Dashwood. Did I mention that I don't think I have ever watched a Jane Austen movie or have worn a bonnet like the one Emma Thompson (at least I know who she is) is wearing in the photo?

Dave,
I bet you'd look cute in a bonnet! (grin). But I did find the male-hero version of this quiz for you! J Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Simply Fabulous Links

I'm a 93% match with Edward Ferrars (he won the tie-breaker) and Captain Wentworth, an 80% match with Mr. Darcy and a 53% match with Willoughby. I guess I'll have to rent the DVD.
Janice, would you please email me when you get a chance? There's an issue with your site and Bloglines. I've included my email address in the contact info for this comment.

Dave,
I've sent you an email about the Bloglines issue. Funny I don't see alot of similarities between the characters of Edward Ferrars and Captain Wentworth, except that both are "high-brow." Are you a distinguished gentleman? (smile). And yes, rent the DVD Janice Re: Simply Fabulous Links

Thank you, Janice! You are so sweet, you made my day! I actually took note of the article in 1990 when I was in grad school and really was supposed to be working on my thesis (ahem) but Palmer's Index to he London Times beckoned and...there you go. It only took me 18 years to go look Milo up!

Nikki-ann,
Hope you enjoy them, and thank you for stopping by! Tim, I wish the United States was as open and honest in teaching history. Lidian, You are welcome! Isn't it funny how some articles "stick with us." I'll confess the basis for many of my blog articles are things I've heard about years ago, and am now just getting around to researching. I read that first article you link too as well on Boston.com and what grabbed my attention was the photo on the homepage that linked to the rest of the article. To carry that photo around like that for so long - it's too bad he died so alone - he obviously loved the man in the picture very much.

Liz,
I've linked now to the photograph so readers can see it. And yes how he died is very sad. I'm sure his siblings are both sad, but at least glad to know what happened to him. Janice Re: Simply Fabulous Links

In regards to plastic v. paper - I ask for both. Let me explain, I use the plastic bags for some small trash cans (like for my cat's litter box mess) and I use paper for our paper recyclables like magazines, junk mail (w/o personal info of course), etc. When we go to the recycling center, I just heave the entire brown paper bag filled with recyclables into the bin and it's much easier. We recycle religiously and I even do my work's recycling, which I lug down two flights of stairs and out to my car every other week. It makes me feel great though to know I'm doing something good and the amount of people at work that actually use the bin I put out still amazes me. I even lug home cardboard boxes I see put out by the trash at work. My car is usually filled to the brim with recyclables every other Friday.

Liz,
I used to do something similar to what you do, except now my town just switched to single-stream recycling which I LOVE! All recyclables go into a special recycle barrel (paper, plastic, bottles, cans all together) that I just put out to the curb. I've read that some places put a bar code on the barrel, and that the residents get local discounts based on how much they recycle. I'm looking forward to that, since my recycling is much greater than my regular trash. Janice Re: Simply Fabulous Links
