Whatever his roots, St. Valentine today is responsible for a few New Hampshire residents who get in trouble because they forget to remember their sweetheart on this unique day. Are you reading this and thinking that you need to find a gift? Help is here!
-- Buy a box of Van Otis chocolates or fudge. This New Hampshire-based company has been selling delectables since 1911. If you live in the Concord area, you can buy candy through the Granite State Candy Shoppe, a third-generation NH Candy Family (since 1927). You can buy online for both of these companies, so you have no excuse!
-- Arrange for a romantic Getaway Trip. Here is a link to an entire page full of suggestions of where to spend the weekend before or after Valentine's Day (since it comes on a Thursday this year), from one day to an entire weekend.
-- Go Out for a Unique Dinner. The Remick Museum in Tamworth NH is offering Fireside Dinners -- one is planned for Saturday evening, February 16th from 5-7 PM. Pre-registration is required and spaces fill up well in advance, so call now (charge is $35.00/per person). Tel: (603) 323-7591 or (800) 686-6117
-- Cook a Dinner For Your Sweetheart. Guys, you can do this too!
-- Create a Home-Made Card, Write a Poem, Serenade with a Song. These won't cost you a dime, but will reap great rewards.
Not having a "sweetheart" is not a good excuse to ignore the day. Celebrate by remembering a family member, friend, or neighbor of any gender and age.
